The team behind BrightSource has long been recognized for leading advancements in concentrating solar thermal power. In the 1980s, our engineering team commercialized the nine SEGS plants in southeastern California. The first commercial utility-scale solar thermal energy plants in the world, the SEGS facilities are still in operation decades later. Our Solar Energy Development Center (SEDC) produces the world’s highest temperature, highest pressure solar steam, which allows us to reach higher power plant efficiencies. BrightSource has built a comprehensive IP portfolio and the company continues to innovate, applying this intelligence to deliver higher efficiencies and lower costs.
