Solar Energy Creates Green Jobs Nationwide for a Strong Economy

Jobs Creation / Economy

Concentrating solar power (CSP) plants like those designed and developed by BrightSource are considered economic-development engines within surrounding regions. Construction, installation and operational-related activities support thousands of jobs: indirect jobs create thousands more.  Moreover, the industry’s high percentage of domestically-sourced components results in employment growth all along the supply chain. A study commissioned by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) for the Department of Energy (DOE) determined that a 100-megawatt CSP plant creates more than $600 million in impact to gross state output, ten times that of a combined cycle fossil plant due to the local content and job creation.
