Federal clean tech funding is poised to decline 75 percent by 2014 compared to 2009, according to a recent report from a diverse group of think tanks titled "Beyond Boom and Bust: Putting Clean Tech on a Path to Subsidy Independence". The coming expiration of many policies and subsidies has raised concerns that the clean tech sector, and the pace of energy innovation in the U.S., may experience a collapse, much as it has in past years when funding similarly dried up.

  1. SunShot Grand Challenge

    The SunShot Grand Challenge - June 13 - 14, 2012 was the first event in a series of Department of Energy Grand Challenges. The SunShot Grand Challenge: Summit and Technology Forum focused on SunShot Initiative goals of achieving grid-parity solar energy within the decade.

    BrightSource Energy was invited to give two presentations in Denver that addressed the scientific, technological, and market barriers to achieving breakthroughs in national energy challenges. John Woolard gave a compelling presentation on the potential for solar to address the world's carbon challenge while Senior VP of Marketing & Government Affairs, Joe Desmond discussed the value of CSP and energy storage for utility customers.
